DIY: Inspiration Board

Not all summer activities need to be super adventurous and exciting. Sometimes it's nice just to hang out in your room. I don't know about you but I absolutely hate to spend time in a boring room. Time to break out the DIY!

Easy Breezy Inspiration Board:

You will need : 

• Magazines
• A large open space
• Tape
• Scissors
• An imagination 
• Printed Locker Peel

Step 1: Find a large blank space on your wall. 

Step 2: Take the printed locker peel and form a large rectangle by first placing two long strips horizontally parallel from each other and two shorter strips vertically parallel to each other.

            * Side note: These locker peel strips are great because ,when removed, they do not take off any paint.

Step 3: Take your magazines and scissors and cut out anything that inspires you or jumps out at you. 

Step 4: Use the tape and let your imagination run wild! Arrange your pictures any way you would like.

Like A Girl

This is very off topic from my usual content but it really impacted me. The message behind this video is so inspiring and needed to be made.

My favorite moment is when the woman asks the little girl " what does it mean to run like a girl?" and the little girl says " to run as fast as you can".  THE FEELS!!!

Stages of A Fashion Fad

1.       You see the popular girls walking down the hallway and immediately scan them up and down reviewing their outfits for the day and you think to yourself…

     What are they wearing??

2.You run to your best friend and tell her about their major fashion fail and she looks at you like your crazy. She says to you “Don’t you know it’s the next big thing”.

3.  The minute you get home you log on Seventeen.com and it’s all over the page!!! You hit your head against the keyboard and wonder how you could have missed this.

4.    You realize that tomorrow is Saturday … MALL TIME… you run to your favorite store and purchase the first one you can find. You don’t care if you look ridiculous!!!

5.      When you get home you head off to your room to prepare your outfit for tomorrow with your new piece. It needs to be perfect after all you don’t want to look stupid.

6.       You walk out of the house feeling confident. You just know that when you walk through those front doors people are going to realize that you are a fashion goddess.

7.    When you get to your locker you’re best friend pulls you aside and says “We need to go to the bathroom… now!”.

8.      When you get to the bathroom the conversation kind of goes like this…

“What are you wearing” she says.

“The newest trend, you told me yesterday that…”

“That was yesterday! What was in yesterday is out today. Don’t you know that!!!?”

9.    You try to hide yourself all day to no avail. You know that people are staring and you are ashamed of yourself.

10. When you get home you lock yourself in your room, binge watch Netflix, cry your eyes out, and vow never to follow fads again. like. ever!

11. 6 months later you are getting rid of your winter and fall clothes to make way for those summer and spring clothes and you find that “fad item” in the back of your closet.  Of course you have to try it on and when you do you laugh at how absolutely ridiculous you look.

12.      After you finish with your closet task you do your daily search through your favorite fashion websites and you see that a new fad has arisen. You try to restrain, you try to hold back the urge, but you just can’t.  The Cycle Repeats.

So if you even got to the end and survived all the ridiculousness I hope I gave you a little laugh this Fun Friday!

Work It Girl

On this blog I talk a lot about fashion and beauty, but the truth is, if you’re not comfortable with who you are, you will never be the true fashionista you were born to be! On your journey to becoming fabulous the first step is Confidence!

My Tips on Being Confident:

1.       Look yourself in the mirror every morning and tell yourself that you are confident and beautiful until sooner or later you can just believe it yourself.

2.      Find someone who you believe is confident and whenever you’re feeling low channel their confidence.

     3.  Take a me day: Take a day to pamper yourself, maybe the day before a big event,  this way you will be feeling your best for the big day.

Let It Go: WAIT NOT YOUR HAIR

I'd like to take a moment to talk about something I like to call : The Pixie Cut Movement. It seems like every other year everyone cuts off all their hair ( not literally) and raves about the ever so popular pixie cut.

Now I have to admit that they do look drop dead gorgeous, HOWEVER, it seems like the years in between the " Pixie Movement ", everyone wants to have long, silky, down to the rib cage hair. So for the girls out there who did cut their super short one year to stay on trend,immediately regret it!

THERE'S NO IN BETWEEN!!!!

Sure you could get extensions but then you might get the , she's so fake remark, and nobody wants that. Also extensions can be very, very expensive. So what's the moral to this post you ask, my moral is find the hairstyle that best suites you and don't base your decisions on what's in. For example a month ago I wanted to dye my hair pink... That's all I'm saying.

Dress Review

I got this super cute dress at Forever 21. I love this dress so much. It's lights and airy but it fits very nicely. I especially love that it's very versatile. You could pair it with some cute heels and a blazer. Or you could wear a jean jacket and thong sandals. Whether you're dressing up or down this dress could work for you. Best of all it hits right at mid thigh which ( in my district anyways ) is appropriate for school!

Here I added a navy blue belt right under my rib cage to add just a touch of flair!

A Match Made In Heaven

We all know that my motto is " never settle for anything less than fabulous" right? Well i just realized that I might have A sole mate in the fashion world that will agree with me.

Marshalls!

Their motto is " never pay full price for fabulous" and it isn't until just now that I really realized it. No wonder I've always loved their clothes. Marshalls is full of great items, on trend, at the best discounted prices. I mean Gucci is good and all but " ain't nobody got money for that". Wow that sounded a lot better in my head.  :).  Before I went on vacation I tried on some shorts at home and realized that I had grown out of all of them. So my mom and I headed over to Marshalls and got some really cute pairs. While at Marshalls I had an epiphany:

Sometimes clothing items may look extremely scary and hard to pull of on the hanger, but no matter what you have to give them a chance.

The maxi skirt has been a summer staple since 1996 and most years since then. Its the mixture between bohemian and classy. It can make any girl instantly look lengthier. Is there a downside to this skirt of wonder? Well.... maybe. However they do not compare. Super Store Spotting: Forever 21

As you all know, I'm always on the look out for great fashion opportunities. Today on the drive home from Sea Isle City, New Jersey, we stopped at this amazing mall, Christiana. They had amazing stores and shops including Forever 21. A lot of people talk about how amazing this store is so I decided to check it out for myself, and I was so glad I did. IT WAS AMAZING!

Forever 21 is stocked with all the latest teen trends and more. The clothing items were very good quality and priced well for the area. This one in particular was humongous! It was like being in fashion heaven. There were lots of articles in my size and a very large supply of XS (which I know are usually hard to find). 

I found some great things, but if I could I would buy literally everything in my size. The only question I have to ask is : Why do they not have one of these in my local mall??!!!!!!!

Van Gogh Goes to Prom!?

Her name is Julia Reidhead . Most of us, in fact probably all of us, have gone dress shopping at one point and hated every dress we tried on. Of course, there is a chance we might just get that " ah ha" moment , but sometimes that doesn't happen. Well this girl didn't let that stop her from having that once in a lifetime prom experience.

She created a dress of her own. Apparently she bought this as a used wedding dress for $40 and spent forty hours to recreating Van Gogh's " Starry Night". I love this dress so much especially for the time and creativity Julia spent on it. Way to Go Girl!

If you've seen the movie Clueless, you've seen this scene:

Anyone who has seen this movie always wondered and wished for that " super " computer that would tell us if our outfit choices were mis-matched and dressed us automatically. With new means of technology this way of dressing is now possible! If you're rich enough you can have a spinning closet with all the trimmings, but if you want to settle for an app that lets you keep your made outfits together you're in luck.

Stylish Girl

This app has been on the market sometime now, and can be a real asset to your app collection. You take pictures of your clothes and log them into your virtual closet. After this you can group outfits together and keep them stored. What you maybe asking yourself is ; Why can't I just do this with my own closet? Well not only does it just store your clothes it also comes with access to online shops and a fashion lounge equipped with access to tabloids, a blog,  and videos.

Relieving Stress

I think to be fabulous, you must not just be fabulous on the outside, but also within. In our busy society there is barely any time anymore to lounge around and relax. Saying this it is most likely that all of us, at one point, have experienced high stress and anxiety. I, especially during the school year, get very anxious and stressed to the point where sometimes I just feel trapped and need to escape.
If you're like me and need some stress relief or would just like to spend a " Me Day" ( which I highly recommend) I have gathered some tips and tricks on how to let the problems go.



Take a Hot Bath:
There is nothing better than a nice long hot bath when you're feeling stressed. All you need to do is flick off the lights, light some candles, add some bubbles and you're good to go. While you're in the bath you could read a book or listen to some soothing music.

Eat Some Chocolate:
I believe chocolate is God's gift to girls. I don't know what it is about chocolate but when I'm stressed it's like the world's best medicine! My favorite type of chocolate is dark chocolate. A lot of people don't like dark chocolate due to its bitter taste, however I enjoy it.



Get Outside:
The power of the outdoors is an amazing thing, especially in the summer. You're filled with a sense of life and serenity and peace. Do something physically exerting. THis way you feel like you're accomplishing something, which in turn will decrease your stress. You could ride your bike, go for a jog, or walk down to the local ice cream shop ( yet another thing I believe decreases stress).

Binge Watch Some Netflix:
I've come to realize that getting involved in other peoples drama ,that won't really affect your life, really gets you out of your head. You may suffer from a major heartbreak when all the season's of your favorite show ends, but the high is good while it lasts.

Into it or Over It: Overalls

Schools out finally! – However this does not give you a chance to stop being fabulously dressed (ok maybe just a little). What if there was a way to combine casual summer attire and some sense of girly-ness? Well luckily for all the girls out there, including me, who are striving to find the balance, I have spotted a trend arising…

One big trend I have spotted recently is the recent explosion of overalls. They started making an appearance this spring and have continued to blow up. Myself personally I could never pull overalls off, well maybe when I was six, but never the less they’ve still exploded. As I've said before this year, 2014, has been the year of youthful attire. You could go edgy with a printed tank and a pair of chucks/vans. Or you could go girly and pair them with a graphic tank, a nice pair of oxfords, and a flower crown. With the ability to go from edgy to girly overalls are perfect for summer.

Finally school is out and summer is here! Well sort of, right now it feels more like were back in March with the crazy out of the blue rain. This summer I have no obligations and I look forward to spending time with family and friends. Get Some Vitamin D:

Just 30 minutes out in the sun is all you need to have a burst of energy. Also I have found that I get depressed when I sit at the computer too long and some time outside riding my bike is all I need to brighten up my day and clear my head.

The Bold Brow

If you have been living under a rock anytime between January and now you maybe a little confused about what I am talking about in this article. However for those of you who may be isolated from the media I am here to enlighten you on this subject I have been wrestling with: The Bold Brow.

Throughout my life, the older I got, the darker and thicker my eyebrows got. I absolutely hated it! They got so out of control I even started getting them waxed at like nine years old (not my idea but mom know best right?). I hated how they took over my face and I felt like I had two caterpillars growing out of my forehead. This year and the past one have shown though that maybe my " fuzzy caterpillars" aren't such a bad thing. 

This year I have really started branching out and experimenting with makeup, however filling in my brows seemed like a daunting and extremely difficult task. I had watched  millions ( over exaggeration ) of youtube videos but every time I did it I looked ridiculous. However when I finally mastered it, I loved how they looked. They framed my face and made my hazel eyes pop! 

I definitely recommend bold brows to top of any look. When going to a formal affair or just heading off for a night on the town, they are the perfect accessory. Team Bold Brows!

Swimsuit Trends of 2014

The days until summer break are super close and I am excited! Warm temperatures, nice long swims, and plenty of ice cream ! No summer vacation can be complete without the perfect bathing suit. This summer I've seen some really cute trends arise.  Myself personally, I love to go bold with my swimwear, however there is such a variety of styles, prints, and cuts to choose from.

The One Piece:

I've noticed a reappearance of the one piece this season.One piece swimsuits are the bikinis older more sophisticated sister. Interestingly though these are not your regular one piece cover up anymore that have been used to  hide your body. One pieces now-a-days come with sexy cutouts and super interesting prints. There really nice if you want a little bit more coverage and sophistication.

The Bikini:

 
The bikini has been popular for a while now for a number of reasons, the most popular being the excuse to show a little skin. Bikinis can come in super vibrant colors and prints or in simple solid colors. There are many different types of bikini's; the bandeau, halter, string, etc. My favorites are the floral printed ones because they have such a girly and flirty quality to them.  I also like the lace ones for this same reason.

This VS That: Sunglasses

No summer outfit can be complete without a rockin pair of shades. I've seen two types of sunglasses recently that have really caught my attention. However I can't decide which I like better.

How adorable does Bethany Mota look in these heart shaped glasses. I love how these glasses make any outfit immediately girly and innocent. I think overall anyone could pull these off. They are a little out of the box as well without pushing the boundaries. These would be the perfect beach accessory to wear with a lace bikini or the perfect pair of sunglasses to throw on when going out with friends. My favorites are the rose pink tinted ones.

These glasses have really exploded this year. I love the  retro feel of these glasses and how they really make a statement. They are very out of the box and, in my opinion, very stylish. At first I thought they were sort of elderly looking,
but I absolutely love them.I also like that they are similar to the geek glasses, but with a twist. However I don't think all face types look good with these types of sunglasses. You really have to have the right features to pull these things off. Now that being said, I honestly have no clue what you have to have feature wise to pull these off, but when you see someone wearing them determine that for yourself.

Happy 88th Birthday Marilyn Monroe!

Marilyn Monroe was known for many things, her femininity and being a sex symbol, but most importantly for her style and class. Now I'm not to fond of the sex symbol part of her, however Marilyn was the ultimate style icon of her era.

Marilyn resembled old Hollywood glam at its finest. Even today her platinum blond locks and her bright red lips inspire many celebrity looks, like Christina Aguilera. I think what I like most about Marilyn is her " I could care less" attitude. This girl, this woman, did things her own way. She was a confident, curvaceous women that took the world  by storm. here are some of my favorite quotes from her.
