Sleepover Activites

Are you tired of doing the same old things at EVERY SINGLE SLEEPOVER? Do you need some way to spice it up? I have compiled a list of classic and out of the box activities that are great for alone time with the gals.

Make It Work:
Gather random supplies around the house like tape, pom poms, trash bags, etc. and go all project runway on 'em. Set a timer for thirty minutes and construct your best dress or ensemble. You can also print out some silhouettes of girls and staple them together to make sketch books. And don't forget to get the Tim Gunn stamp of approval!

Watch A Movie:
This one is pretty obvious! But instead of watching your movie with popcorn and soda, try a new recipe off of Pintrest! It's a fun way to watch a movie and try something you've never tried before.

Do a photo shoot:
Each pic out three outfits and a camera and your ready to go. If it's safe, go outside in your neighborhood and strike your best poses. Its something exciting to do and it make you feel extremely glamorous.

Do A Diy:
DIY's , do it yourself s, are always fun to do especially with a friend. Try this one. It's a hanging motivational board . Its easy to make and you don't need much time to do it.

Your going to need some twine or string, glue, tape , marker , a cardboard box, colored or white paper, and some scissors.

I forgot to add, on the back of each piece lay the string and tape it down.

If you try any of these out I'd love to see pictures. Just post your pictures to Instagram and twitter with the hashtag #DIYwithFabulous! P.S I got an instagram!!! You can follow me at Fabulouslyme21.

What's In My Pool Bag?

Tribal Tote - Aéropostale®
On this second to last day of July I would like to take some time to just chill in the sun and the water before I want to start doing my back-to-school series. So I thought, what a better way to celebrate the end of July then go swimming in the 91 degree weather.

Mascara always makes me feel a little bit more confident because my eyelashes stick straight out so it doesn't look like I have any at all if I don't curl them up. This mascara from Covergirl does an excellent job and the claims of its waterproofing super powers are totally correct.
Honestly who doesn't love eos lip balms. Not only does it do a super job at moisturizing your lips, it smells fantastic.
Then of course you gotta have a swimsuit. For me its very hard to find swimsuits that fit because I am not that blessed, if you know what I'm saying. I purchased this swimsuit from walmart and the only down side to it is that I wore it to the lake because my other swimsuit broke and it turned blueish. GRRR

Other than that I have a pair of extra clothes, some sunscreen, a magazine, and some sunglasses from the dollar store ( fortunately they were actually on trend)!

New Collection at Pac Sun

Kendall and Kylie Jenner's new " Back to School " collection is now out in all PacSun stores and I have to say while the clothes are perfectly on trend right now, some of the looks  would never even make it into a school .  Oh but how I wish they could! The looks from the new collection are fairly priced and figure flattering. However calling it a back to school collection is just unrealistic. I do understand though that other schools might have a more layed back dress code, but for me I probably wouldn't even be allowed to pass through the doors. Also I'm not really into showing my midriff unless I'm going swimming.

On the bright side, some of the looks are actually very appropriate and definitely up my alley. These looks are full of AMAZING bohemian patterns that are very summer, but the colors scream fall! They're perfect transitional pieces for every girl's wardrobe. Here is a link to check it out:http://www.pacsun.com/content/kendall-kylie.html

My June Favorites

As June winds down I wanted to take a moment to share the makeup products I have been loving this month!

Makeup:
This is the Super BB Compact Cream, in the color light ,from Physicians Formula. I recently purchased this and I have to say it does an amazing job and delivers all of it's claims. I also find it interesting that its a compact cream rather than in a tube.  My friend recommended this brand because I am very prone to acne and say it has less oil in it.

This is the Bombshell Curvaceous mascara by COVERGIRL in the color very black. I love this mascara because it it double sided and very smudge proof. However it is not waterproof which is a little bit of a problem in the summer time. But when wearing a non-waterproof mascara, wait until it dries and then
coat it with waterproof mascara to insure the lack of raccoon eyes.

Of course we can't forget my beauty blender. This dupe doesn't work as well as my previous one, but I needed a new one because my old one... moved on to a better place * single tear*

Volumizing Mascara | LashBlast Volume Mascara I am in L-O-V-E with this mascara! It is the Lash Blast volume waterproof mascara from COVERGIRL. It is injected with Hydrofuge (?) supposedly. I don't know what that does exactly but I know I like it! It keeps my eye lashes up all day, it truly is waterproof, and it creates no clumps. The bristles are small and thin but the brush is big giving you perfect lashes.

This is the  ESTEE LAUDER Pure Color Intense Kajal Eyeliner in 01 Blackened black.  This eyeliner is great for tight lining because , unlike most pencils, this is SO soft and glides on super smooth.

This is the Maybelinne New York cover stick correcting concealer.  This is a yellow-------------> toned concealer which does a much better job at covering dark circles than a more white toned ones.

This is the mastershape brow pencil by Maybelinne New York. This is the first brow pencil i have ever used but it does an okay job. I also like that it comes with an attached spooli brush.

________________^
This is the e.l.f hypershine gloss in the color flirt, and I love taking this on the go with me and it smells SUPER FANTASTIC! The only thing I don't like that I've noticed is that at the end of the day , the gloss dries and forms a line of residue on your lips. I also like that it comes with a nifty-difty brush and it cranks.

This is the COVERGIRL clean oil control pressed powder in 510. I love using this to set my foundation and concealer.  Another I love about this product is that it sucks up oil like nobodies business.
________________________
And lastly, this is the Revlon super lustrous lipstick in the shade 805 Kissable Pink. This is a great bright pink for summer. It is smooth and inexpensive but very beautiful!

I hope you found this helpful and enjoyed my favorites. If you purchase any of these items of the list I would love to know. Tweet me your pictures @FabulouslyMe21 with the hashtag #FabuFavs

The Scrunchie Takeover

Scrunchies are  cool again? I'm confused!

A recent article in the New York Times titled " The Scrunchie Grows Up" claims that the rise of the scrunchie trend maybe upon us. Katalina Sharkey de Solis , a manager of an ad agency, apparently had a realization while watching old movies one day that the scrunchie was a sign of power. This women then proceeded to create an Instagram account where she posted late pictures of icons wearing scrunchies. From then on the Scruchie trend resurrected!
_____________________________________________________________________________
________________________________________________________________________________________________

I have to say I was never to fond of scrunchies in everyday use. I did gymnastics competitively for a very long time wear scrunchies were pretty much required. So, I didn't see them as a casual accessory. The only memory I have of scrunchies in that type of way is when I watched Full House! Come to think of it, I never really liked scrunchies that much on them either.

However, the new (  and improved ) scrunchies that they have developed are definitely a step up from your regular 90's get up.  For one thing they are a lot smaller and thinner than the used to be, which is nice because they are not as overpowering. They also have new patterns to keep up with the current styles.

So what do you think? Do you think that Scrunchies are here to stay, or are they just a passing fad? Comment down below!

Outfit Inspiration: Dressy Summer

I purchased this paisley maxi dress  at Forever 21. This dress makes me feel so glamorous and summery! Inside the skirt is a slip that actually only hits about mid thigh. I paired this dress with this beautiful goddess-like necklace which I also purchased from Forever 21 to give it at he glam factor. I topped it off with these  brown snakeskin sandals that I adore and my brown Nine West bag I got from a garage sale. I think I got it for around 3-5 dollars, so it ended up being a huge bargain. If your not into large bags, I also switched it out with this adorable army green wrist-let with Aztec detailing my mom got for me at Aeropostale. If you want to be a little more covered you could easily pair this outfit with a nice jean vest or jacket. However for me it was so hot out I had to let loose. Overall I think this outfit is perfect for a dressier summer day. may have had to pay my brother to take the pictures but I still love him to death!

A Big Thank You

I just want to thank all of you for hanging with me this past week. I know there was an extreme lack of posting, but I do have a very good reason. My great-grandma has cancer. Because of this, we drove to Indiana to help move her and her husband to my grandpas house in Florida. We had to empty out the entire house and have a huge garage sale because, trust me, she had a LOT of small knickknacks! It was hard work but it was a good experience. I got to see my other great grandma and some other relatives too. I even got to ride a four wheeler for the first time...IT WAS SUCH A RUSH! On the way back we got to visit some friends in Ohio and do some shopping, which, I absolutely love to do. I even got to try the cotton candy frappe from Starbucks. It was really, really, good!!!!!!!

So If you would please keep my great grandma in your prayers and thank you for baring with me!

End Of The Countdown

Song
My favorite song this summer is either On My Way by Lea Michelle or Break Free by Ariana Grande! These songs are perfect for jamming out and the singers are both so talented.

Beverage
All I have to say is… Dr.Pepper is and always will be the BAE.

Nail Polish
I love this aqua color from GAP. My mom got it for me and it just reminds me of the fun time I had at Sea Isle city and the ocean.

Fashion trend
I am really a big fan of Maxi dresses. There just so easy and glamorous at the same time. I also love the ventilation they give you, which is essential in the summer time because no one wants to get all hot and sweaty.

Beauty Trend
I loved the bronzed beauty look. Bronze is the optimum color for summer because of its power to create a warmer look. However I am naturally super pale and it’s a little harder for me to get tan… *sigh*

Clothing Item
I am in love with my white t shirt I got at Kohl’s. Its super simple but I can pair it so many ways. Plus white is a great color for summer.

Activity
I love being able to go to the beach and boogie board, it’s so fun! On the other hand I love being able to stay up late and sleep until 11! #Vamping

Accessory
I’m not much of an accessory person, mostly because I lose all of them the minute after I take them off. However I love my gold owl earrings I purchased at Forever 21.  There so versatile and make any look instantly more glamorous and fun!

Movie
I am a big sucker for animated/ musical movies so I would have to stay Rio 2.

Food
In the summer, there are lots of cookouts with lots of good food. My all-time favorite summer food is hamburgers.  I try to limit my intake of red meat so it’s nice to have a burger once in a while

Dessert
Fro-Yo all the way! I wish I could say ice cream but sadly I cannot. #TheStruggle

App
This summer I've absolutely loved the new Kim Kardashian game.  I. am. addicted. When I was away on vacation there was no Wi-Fi so I lost so many fans. IT WAS TERRIBLE! P.S I am an A Lister!!!!!

1.  Shop with a set budget! This method is great for shoppers who go crazy when they step into a store and just want to buy everything. When you shop with a budget in mind, you will really think about what your buying and if you really want it. Ask yourself the following  questions:
  • Will I use it often?
  • Is it good quality?
  • Is this something I am going to like 2 months from now?
  • Do I really, really, love it?
2.Shop for pieces that will work with each other. We all know the feeling of buying something in the store, and then going home and realizing you have nothing to wear it with. If you haven't had this feeling, kudos to you! But for me, I do this all the time. However I tried using this system last time I went shopping and it worked out great. By doing this I had multiple outfits that inter worked with each other!

Comment down below what your greatest struggle shopping is!

Half the summer if already over and I know I am shocked. It seems like all of the days have just started melting into one. In summer it can be hard to pull yourself away from the computer and do something with your life, but if you don't your going to regret it. So get off of your butt use these three things to defeat summer boredom.

1. Learn to do something you normally wouldn't have time to do. Take up an art class or learn how to sew! Find something that you always are putting of to do and go for it! You will feel accomplished and a little bit better about your summer!

2. If you happen to own a car and are old enough, go on a road trip! It doesn't have to be something extravagant. As long as you've got good friends, awesome tunes, and lots of food your set to go. Look up some fun things to do in your area or semi-close to it and take the leap.

*If it does turn out to be a flop, have all your friends over for an impromptu slumber party insted.I mean you already have the food right? You could rent a movie or just watch one on Netflix. p.S Mean Girls is back on!

3. Find some way to plug into the community! You may not realize it, but there are probably lots of projects or places in your community that are looking for volunteers. Just get down to it and pitch in! Not only are you doing something worth while, but you can also get SSL hours for your hard work ( if your still in high school).

Top 4

1.  Hairspray. At one point people thought that hair spray would help set your makeup. This is not true. Hairspray contains ingredients that will dry out your skin, such as lacquers and alcohol. Some hairsprays also have repellents in them that could possibly irritate your skin.

2.  Body Lotion. Body Lotions are normally thicker than regular face lotions you would use only on your face. Also most body lotions include fragrances that could irritate your skin. The skin on your face is less dense than the skin on your body, so it's best to use gentler ingredients.

3. Deodorant. Even though deodorant  is the master of  perspiration control under your arms, it doesn't work on your face. Deodorant will suffocate your face because it's more of a shield. If you want to keep your makeup all day use a primer instead.

4. Nail Polish. Halloween is a fun time to put on a colorful mask, but it's better to use face paint then Nail Polish! DON'T EVER PUT NAIL POLISH ANYWHERE BUT YOUR NAILS!

1. Every girl needs a nice pair of dark wash jeans. Jeans are so versatile and a major necessity for everyone's wardrobe, not just teens. My favorite type of jeans are skinny jeans. This is because they fit me better than looser jeans would.

2. A white t-shirt is another must. Its one of the most important basics because it is so easy to layer and build off of. Another great thing about a white t-shirt is that you could dress it up, or you could dress it down.

3. Shoes are a girl's best friend. Speaking of shoes the best basic shoes is the black ballet flat. They are dressy without being super dressy, making them semi-casual. * basics are all about versatility.

4. Black cardigans are another wardrobe must. Everyone has to get cold sometime!

5. A solid colored tank top. Even though it really isn't that basic, it still is a nice layering piece!

Comment down below what your wardrobe must is !

Top 6: Heat-less Summer Hairstyles

  1. French Braid Crown: This is one of the best ways to get hair out of your face, which is a must for hot sticky days.
  2. Beachy Waves:  I love doing beachy waves during the summer. They give off the impression of getting back from the beach, without actually going to the beach!
  3. Side Braid: This is super simple and so very cute. However, the only problem I have with this hairstyle is the fact that I have multiple layers in my hair so it makes it a little harder to do.
  4. Boho Tuck ‘n Cover: This hairstyle is super easy to do and definitely very bohemian and chic.  All you need for this hairstyle is a headband and some bobby pins.
  5. Side Fishtail braid: This hairstyle takes a little bit longer but is super cute and perfect for summer!
  6. Top Knot: This is a great hairstyle for when you need to rush out of the house really quick. Not only is  it very elegant, it stays out of your face too.

Top 7: Things That Make me Happy

  1. When it’s warm outside I love to ride my bike. When that first heat wave hits in the spring, I am out on the open road loving life!
  2. When I come home to my house after a long day or from a long vacation and just breathe in the familiarity. This is probably because even though I enjoy a “ go with the flow” kind of vacation, I would prefer to  have a plan. I love to have control.
  3.  Thunderstorms at night! I absolutely hate thunderstorms in the day, but when night comes around I love falling asleep to the sound of rain and thunder.
  4. Being truly inspired. I love the feeling of being on fire for something. Just that feeling you get when you know what you’re going to do, is going to make a difference and that you’re truly passionate for what you’re doing, makes me very happy.
  5. When I find a new song that I can jam out too that’s nothing like I've ever heard before. I love hearing new sounds and exploring what my likes and dislikes are, and how they've changed over the years. For example a few years back, I was the girl obsessed with Hannah Montana J. Ah Memories...
  6. The smell of chocolate chip cookies.  I ABSOLUTELY LOVE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!!!!
  7.   Singing.  I love to sing, all the time, everywhere. I’m an auditory learner which means I learn by listening. So sometimes during class I will be humming or softly singing and not even realizing it.
I would love to hear what makes you happy, feel free to comment down below!

Top 8

  1. If you run out of eyeliner and you need some fast take a thin angled brush called a “liner brush’ and use your mascara instead!
  2. Terrible at staying in the lines when it comes to painting your nail? You can take some tape, not duct tape though, and outline your nails. Then just go crazy because when you pull the tape off you will have fabulously clean fingers. However wait until the polish is completely dry or you could ruin all your hard work.   o   Another option would be to use lip balm!
  3. Stay Put Trick: After applying lipstick press a tissue to your lips and dust over it with translucent powder. This will put your lips on lock-down!
  4. For the perfect winged eye liner take a piece of tape and angle it up from your lower lash line. This will be the guide line for the wing.
  5. Run out of shaving cream? I a pinch use conditioner instead! It is soft and silky like shaving cream and it will cut down the number of items you have to take while traveling.
  6. No one likes lipstick on their teeth! So next time you apply lipstick stick your index finger in your mouth , close you lips tightly, and pull it out. This will wipe away the excess from the part of your lips that would stain you lips. But please, wash your hands first. You can’t be fabulous if you’re sick!
  7. Your eye-lash curler works best when it’s heated. So before you curl your eyelashes blast it for a couple seconds with a hairdryer. You can also stick it in your bra/ between your thighs while doing the rest of your makeup.
  8. It’s good to invest in a nice dry-shampoo however if you’re in a pinch, sprinkle a light dusting of baby powder directly to the roots of your hair and comb it through. Make sure that you can’t see any of the flakes though!

Top Nine: Fashion Rules That Need To Be Broken

1.  You can only wear silver OR gold, but never together. Mixing silver and gold together is not only acceptable, but very chic and trendy as well.

File:Tumblr static explosion gif.gif
2.  Never wear white after labor day. White is beautiful every single day of the year. Besides after labor day passes, isn't it still before labor day considering there is a labor day every year...

LOGIC DEFIED

3.  Navy Blue and Black should never be paired together. Navy Blue and Black in moderation can look totally chic, especially in the winter time.

4. Mixing prints is a major don't. If done right , mixing prints won't look extremely busy. Your outfit goes from being cookie cutter ordinary to WOW! When mixing prints it's important that the prints you choose have one common color. This allows the outfit to flow together easily and not look to two-pieced.

Fashion ● On The Street

5. Horizontal stripes make you look fat. It may make you look slightly broader, but what really matters is the cut of the garment. If the garments is tailored, the print won't really matter.

6. Wearing denim on denim should receive the death penalty. It is true that wearing the same wash of denim together looks extremely tacky. You can avoid this mistake by mixing the washes of the denim and paring them with a statement piece of a bold color.
Layered Necklaces7. Less is more in the accessory department. More is more, not less is more. Layered necklaces are totally in this summer. So if you're some one who goes gaga over accessories, go for it!
8.  No socks with sandals/ open toed shoes. I've talked about this one a while back on my blog. Forget the stereo types, this trend maybe be a little out there but it is super cute and retro.
9. Style is something you're born with. Style is something you learn over time. You're not born with the ability to speak the language you're parents speak, you learn it over time. Fashion and style is a whole other language. Language is used to communicate between people, and so is fashion. You can tell a lot about a person by their fashion choices.

Top Ten: Beauty Mistakes

1. Curling your eye lashes after you've already put mascara on them. This will tug and pull at your eyelashes and make them clump. Not to mention it will be more likely that you pull them out of your lash line. OUCH!

2. Pulling at your lid when you put on eyeliner.  I know that this is hard not to do, however it causes premature wrinkles and no one wants that.

3. Forgetting to blend out your eye shadow. When you don't blend out your eye shadows, your overall eye look will look to precise and accurate indicating that your wearing more makeup, which in actuality you're not. By blending in the colors it will soften the eye look and create a more pristine finish. For more information on blending check this out: http://www.indianvanitycase.com/2012/04/basic-eyeshadow-blending-tutorial-tips.html

4. Wearing makeup to bed. I am very guilty of this one. Wearing makeup to bad is so, so bad for your skin. It prevents your skin from recovering from the day, it suffocates the skin. I even heard some where that sleeping in your makeup ages your skin 7 days. This might be a myth but if that's a possibility I am definitely not doing it anymore. For more information check out:  http://www.indianvanitycase.com/2012/04/basic-eyeshadow-blending-tutorial-tips.html
5. Not carrying your foundation onto your neck. I use to make this mistake so much when I was a beginner. If you do not blend out your foundation onto your neck, you will look like you are wearing a mask. Can you say #CakeFace?

6. Scrubbing too hard/ exfoliating too much. Your skin is not a piece of wood that needs constant, excruciating, sanding. exfoliating too much can cause sensitivity, redness, irritation, and dryness. You want to remove dead skin cells, not live ones. For more information check out: http://www.cosmopolitan.com/hairstyles-beauty/beauty-blog/are-you-over-exfoliating-your-face

7. Over plucking your eyebrows. You're eyebrows can be the make or break of any look. Eyebrows are suppose to frame your face and accentuate your features. Most women over pluck their eyebrows making their faces look unfinished. However you don't want this...
8. Wearing too much blush. This is just an obvious. You are not a Raggedy Ann Doll. There is a simple fix though. If you are wearing a powder blush , take some translucent powder and dust it over. This will tone down the color a little. If you are wearing cream blush, it's a little bit trickier. You can take a small amount of liquid foundation on a cosmetic sponge and dab it over the blush. Do this so with extreme caution.
9. Not wearing a primer. If you do not wear a primer you are subject to a less than fabulous, end of the  day , absolute mess. Primer's are must for any long day, especially if you have naturally oily skin. For best results find a nice, oil-free, primer.

10. Matching you're foundation to the wrong part of your body. You should always match you're foundation to the color of your chest to find your perfect match. This way you match you're foundation to the part of your body that receives the most sunlight unlike your jawline or your neck. This fact of course does not apply if you're obsessed with turtlenecks. Does anyone even wear those anymore? I sure hope not...

And I just realized in the picture of Christina Aguilera's blush mishap she is wearing a turtleneck, my goodness she was really off point that day!
