Into It or Over It: Over-lining Lips

Large lips have always fluctuated in and out of style. But they have been making a recent comeback. Their overwhelming return can be traced back to Instagram celebrity and reality tv's " Keeping up with the Kardashians", Kylie Jenner. Kylie's introduction to overlining her lips, started a HUGE trend. The bigger the better some would say.
While I've never really tried out her method, to be honest, I find that this advanced makeup technique is a little...much. However I must say that, the over lined lip look photographs well. But if this technique is not done right, the natural lip line is totally visible and distracting. Its definitely a hard look to pull off.

I'm completely OVER this trend. I say embrace your natural lips! You can always play them up with a fun color, or a rich red for the fall time. Although if you are wanting to plump your pout a bit go for it! The time to experiment in makeup is now.

Quick Tip: Overnight Curls

Curling my hair with a wand, usually takes anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes. That is way too long for me to spend on my hair on a school day! However when I stumbled across this video from Hair Guru Kayley Melissa, my curl game changed for the better. Her method is quick and effective. It is also actually comfortable to sleep in. It is a little weird at first, but you get used to it. She calls them Halo Curls and you will see why!

Check it Out:

Homecoming: Hairstyle, Dress, What I Learned!

For only a couple nights a year, young ladies and lads get to dress up in sparkly dresses and tuxedos, and dance the night away with all of their friends. This last weekend I attended my first homecoming. While I didn't know many people, it was still a fun night. I was absolutely in love with my dress and my hair and the entire ensemble really came together,. I hope all of you had fun at your homecomings as well.

My Hair:

I was inspired by a youtuber named Tess Christine to create this elegant flower-esque updo. If  I were to do this updo again I would definitely create more volume on top, so it wouldn't be so close to my head. For more information on how to do this hairstyle check out the video below. I would say that this hairstyle requires a friend to help out!

My Dress:

My dress was actually a surprise from my mom the week before homecoming. The color is stunning, the length was perfect, and the back of the dress was my favorite part. I think the best part of the dress was it was really different than everyone elses ( except for the one girl who had the same dress as me).
*we made a total joke about it though so It was all good.

My friend Caroline and I

What I learned:

You have to give yourself to the night. If you allow yourself to dance and laugh and just have a good time, your going to have a good time! Make sure you go outside for some air periodically so you don't get to sweaty. Don't eat too much before you go. Overall be you and let loose, and whip till ya drop!

Altar'd State

Lately I've been in a shopping rut. Sure American Eagle and Aeropostale are amazing stores, but I wanted to branch out and try something new. Unfortunately where I lived, shopping was pretty limited. Now with the move, my eyes are opened to new and amazing fashion opportunities. The first time I walked into an Altar'd State my eyes lit up and a huge smile spread across my face. After making my rounds of the store I was thoroughly convinced....
I had found my new favorite store. I just feel so at home there. By the dressing rooms, there was a book where you could write down prayer requests, which I thought was super cute. Their clothes are so unique and special so I figured I'd share it with you all. I also just recently got to check out there new fall collection and I wish I had a job so I could buy the entire store! I could go on forever on what they stand for and the amazing work they are doing but you should go check it out for yourself:http://www.altardstate.com/

Naked 2 Pallet- Is It Worth It?

I received the Naked 2 Pallet from my grandmother for Christmas last year, and I figured that I've had it long enough to do a review on it. The Urban Decay- Naked Line is really a favorite of mine, as well as many other's in the beauty community. The Naked pallets are known for their high quality, incredibly pigmented colors, and easy blending ability. When I first held it in my hands I knew that my makeup game would never be the same, from now on it would be flawless!

Durability:
I am a very accident prone person. I have dropped this pallet many times. This pallet has done an amazing job of keeping intact! One of the shadows has dislodged itself unfortunately, however it has not shattered. Also I have not gotten through a single shadow yet, and I use this pallet almost everyday.

Overall I really love this pallet. I haven't really played with the gray and silver too much. But I do have to say that this pallet would be nothing without its counterpart- Naked 2 Basics. My favorite thing about the pallet is that it is ready to use for everyday or night, school or elegant formal wear, the versatility is endless. It may be pricey but my ruling....

WORTH IT

My Favorite Emmy's 2015 Red Carpet Looks

Sarah Hyland rocked the Emmys Carpet in this stunning off the shoulder Zac Posen dress. The color of this dress really complements her skin tone and really brings in the fall season. This dress is so gorgeous on her, and may I say her stylist did an amazing job with the accessory choices. Sarah pulled this look together with easy waves and a fresh faced makeup look, with a bold eye.

Ariel Winters took the "Red Carpet" to another level in this stunning red  Romona Keveza original. I'm really liking the asymmetrical neckline. She looks so amazing, and I think the silver accent jewelry and Big Glamourous curls really tie the look together.

Gina Rodriguez reminds me of the ice queen in this Lorena Sarbu (in the best way possible). Snow looks like it is falling and hanging around her body. I also like how her stylist choose to pull her hair back, which judging from the heat was not only a very elegant choice, but a practical one.

2015-emmys-red-carpet-best-dressed-maisie-williams
Maisie Williams is giving me some serious nostalgia in this ensemble. Girly and Pink is the theme of this outfit.   Ermanno Scervino did a really nice job with this dress. Can we just talk about her shoes? They remind me of this famous pen...

2015-emmys-red-carpet-best-dressed-emma-roberts
Emma Roberts looks amazing in this Jenny Packham original. Her blonde hair looks amazing against this champagne colored dress. This dress is very easy and flowy and I really like it.

But the hot ticket item of the Red Carpet was something new. #SmartGirlsAsk
Amy Poehler’s online community Smart Girls started this hashtag to enable women to be asked the red carpet questions that should be asked, other than the just " who are you wearing?", by letting twitter users tweet in questions for the women attend the Emmy's. Want more information:

Top 6: Back to School Survival Tips

Well folks due to the inevitable orbiting of our earth around the sun, I have started school!
This is officially my second week, and while I am surviving I figured I'd share my top 6 high school survival tips with you all, in hopes that maybe some of you starting school will be able to retain some of your sanity.
http://mrwgifs.com/sheldon-cooper-freaking-out-reaction-gif-on-big-bang-theory/
1) Bring Snacks
Your body needs fuel to keep you going throughout the day. I suggest packing a small snack that will keep you full and satisfied like pretzels. Just make sure you only eat , if the teacher allows it.

2) Keep a hair elastic with you at all times!

  • This tip really is the gymnast inside talking. If you have long hair, like myself, or even medium length hair your going to get hot during the day. No one wants to be all sweaty, and I'd rather sacrifice a good hair day then getting overheated.

3) Have Gum or Mints

  • Not only is this a conversation starter, but lets be real, no one likes awful smelling breath. Your going to be talking with people and conversing and having fun, don't kill the mood with bad breath. Be careful though once you open that pack there might be a stampede. Plus Winter Green mints... they're magical.

4) Please wear sensitive shoes

  • If you cant walk in heels, do not wear them to school. Your mission is to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible.

5) Do your Homework

  • Unfortunately there will be teachers that will give you homework on the first day of school. Just get over it , and get into the habit of getting it done. Once you get back into the groove it wont seem so bad.

6) Get peoples numbers

  • Reach out and ask for peoples numbers in each class. This way if you miss something a day in class, you can ask them what happened that day. And who knows, maybe you'll even turn out to be good friends.
